Everyone forget about Fevered Dreams?
Alot of posts are regarding good illusion builds. One skill solves all your questions.
[skill]Fevered Dreams[/skill]
Just think about it
[skill]Fevered Dreams[/skill]
Now imagine all the combitions of condition spam can be done. Using necro/ranger/assassin/dervish/dwarf skills. Now, go to your skill page, and think of some awesome condition spreading combination, and use that. There is a good illusion build.

Alternatively, use Epidemic, and at the cost of a slight delay of onset time you can avoid having to spec into Illusion or use your elite slot. Since the Mesmer has so few skills that can dish out conditions, you can go an air elementalist, a BH ranger or something else that dishes out a lot of conditions to a single target and throw Epidemic in for no cost beyond a single skill slot and setting your choice of secondary.
Less flippantly, this did come up in Cthon's thread, and is in fact one of the leading contenders - there are advantages to making sure your conditions get spread now rather than later.
That said, it'd be a little redundant if the conditions are coming from a Dervish or, to a lesser extent, some flavours of Elementalist and Necromancer, since they tend to apply conditions over an area anyway.

I found Fevered Dreams to be good with a lot of condition spamming heroes. I set myself and heroes up "mandragor style" and it was quite fun. Not something I'd run on a regular basis though.

Fevered Dreams has a greater area of effect, though for most of PvE Epidemic is fine anyway since monsters don't think to spread out too much.

How about this.
Me/D, when vsing destroyers (considering high armor & hex removal)
[skill]Phantom Pain[/skill][skill]Fevered Dreams[/skill][skill]Fragility[/skill][skill]Enfeeble[/skill][skill]Envenom Enchantments[/skill]Signet of Corruption, Alkar's Alchemical Acid With last slot optional.
Use phanton as a cover Hex, then use your combo to spread a vast array of conditions
or, same sort of build just requires very good timing.
[skill]Fevered Dreams[/skill]Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support[skill]Phantom Pain[/skill][skill]Fetid Ground[/skill][skill]Animate Shambling Horror[/skill]Just for the bleeding attacks, something different can be used [skill]Putrid Explosion[/skill]Signet of Infection (or res if you don't want bleeder maker minions), Withering Aura
Alot of new skills, thus links don't work for some reason.
Thoughts?

I actually completed all of GW:EN with a mandragor style group, me being the Mesmer. A lot of places were really easy, like the huge raptor groups. Mass Blind and Weakness pretty much owns them. Hero hench group packing every condition in the game + Fragility + Fevered Dreams. Fun times.

Take Fevered Dreams.
Take a BHA ranger (Zho fits well).
Take a blinder (An air ele fits well).
Take a warrior to aggro properly.
Add some AoE, like Volley, or Rodgort, or Cyclone Axe, or whatever.
Laugh at the mass interrupts and complete immunity to melee.

I love using this skill with my sin in AB. Good times, conditions popping up like no ones business.

Why would you give up your elite for that?
Honestly while Fevered Dreams can be pretty good when put into a team build it's just not worth it. There are better builds and combinations out there, and things die so fast in PvE that it just turns into a wasted elite slot.

In PvP, it isn't completely bad, but it is hard to properly utilize.
In PvE, look below.

It is pretty bad in PvP except for maybe HA, people will realize you're using it and react, AKA spread out.

It's coming up a lot lately actually.
I think this is the 6th thread in about a month that adresses FD.
FD clears out just about anything on HM, with the proper hero setup. I actually seldomly run anything else on my mes. See this thread for a build. With some suggestions further down in the thread (and I still haven't gotten around to trying them )
Edit: So in conclusion, no not everyone forgot about FD. And that buildlink was in answer to you remark about thinking of some awesome conditions spreading build (although it's actually a condition spamming build because the spreading is done by only two skills, FD and Epidemic). Things indeed die very fast, but on HM it's usually pretty easy to get all the conditions on your primary target right before it dies (and so has afflicted every other monster in the area).
Edit 2: It works exactly as Glountz said .

[skill]fevered dreams[/skill] isnt such a bad elite, the thing is that there are better options for PvE Mesmers. but hey, whatever works for you is good, and [skill]fevered dreams[/skill] is not such a bad option...
those condition heavy Mesmer+heroes builds seem good on paper, but I never tried it, I dont have EotN which makes it a bit tougher, no cracked armor, finish him, etc...
but hey, condition spamming has been common for a while now, whichever way you choose to do it is acceptable...

If you click the button you can look at what the other typed, that way you don't need to ask how they did it.
If something doesn't show as a [X]...[/X] code, just hit the button to turn off the "View as output" mode.
